Firecrews have a line around 45 percent of the 723-acre Silver Creek fire burning about a mile west of the U.S. Marine Mountain Warfare Training Center at Pickel Meadows.

Crews are working to hold an established fireline and are patrolling for spot fires. Cooler temperatures have decreased fire behavior, but predicted hot and dry weather will increase potential for fire behavior.

Nearly 400 people are fighting the fire, including eight hand crews, 10 engines, two helicopters and five water tenders.

All roads and trails in the area of the fire are closed, including parts of Highway 108 to Snora Pass Road, Silver Creek Road,
