Peter Paul Stollenwerk, 73, a Minden resident for the last 2 1/2 years coming from California, died Aug. 20, 2008, in Gardnerville.

Stollenwerk was an engineer with many accomplishments including work with the University of California Lick Observatory telescope and time with NASA working with the space shuttle. He was a master craftsman with woodwork and loved shooting his guns. He was an avid sailor and captain of Whisper.

Stollenwerk was preceded in death by his father and mother. Survivors include son Brett Stollenwerk and his wife Frankie of Felton, Calif., and daughter Lesa Stollenwerk of Santa Cruz, Calif.; friend and companion Linda Chapple of Sparks; sisters Carolina O'Hagin of Sebastopol, Calif., and Paula Sterling of Utah, and one grandson, Cory Farinsky and nephew Brian Anderson of Boulder City. Final arrangements are being entrusted to Walton's Douglas County Mortuary.
