It sounds like firefighters may get the Silver Creek fire surrounded by tonight. At last report, a line had been cut around more than half of the fire. Federal officials expect to have their line completed by 6 p.m. if the wind doesn't blow it up again.
The intersection of Mono Avenue and First Street in Minden is still torn up so don't even get caught in that. Road crews are repairing First Street after utility work on the road.
The Nevada State Fair started Wednesday and will continue through the weekend. Tonight is $70 carload night. Up to 12 people per car, all must be belted in. It will be clear today with a bit of a breeze. The high shouldn't quite hit 90, according to the National Weather Service. Expect the highs to climb back to the mid-90s by Sunday. Lows will hang around the mid-50s.
