Douglas High hosts its annual Hall of Fame football game tonight, hosting the Las Vegas Wildcats. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The team will dedicate its new Hall of Fame wall near the northeast entrance at 6:15 p.m. with as many of the current Hall of Famers as organizers can round up.
During halftime of the game, the Tigers will induct its 2008 class with Tim Roberts, Matt Tretton, Tom Callahan, Keith Hart and Chris Cunningham.
Callahan, a 1968 graduate, was co-captain of a 17-man team during his senior year.
He earned first-team all-state honors while being chosen 2A back of the year and 2A Most Valuable Player. He earned two varsity letters as a freshman and continued that success through his athletic career.
He is now the chairman of the Associated General Contractors Leadership Committee.
Roberts, a 1975 graduate, was a three-year, three-sport standout. He was quarterback of the 1974 state championship football team and also played safety, punter and kicker.
He made a game-saving tackle against Fallon that helped the Tigers clinch the state title. He ran for 683 yards and passed for 732 on the year.
Roberts now lives in Texas on a small ranch raising cutting horses with his wife, Karla.
Tretton, a 1999 graduate, was named second-team all-divison offensive guard as a junior and was first-team all-state, conference and division as a defensive end and offensive guard as a senior. He was named the lineman of the year.
He currently works for Eldorado Hotel and Casino and is an assistant coach for the Douglas Pop Warner Junior Midget football team. He resides in Carson Valley with his wife, Kim, and two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Talia.
Cunningham played varsity football in 1990 and 1991 and received all-conference recognition as a defensive end and fullback his senior year. He was the recipient of The R-C's Top Tiger award for his role in a memorable comeback win against South Tahoe his senior year and played strong safety in the Sertoma Classic All-Star Football Game.
He teaches physical education and coaches wrestling at O'Brien Middle School in Reno.
Hart transfered to Douglas from Olympia High School in Washington for his senior season in 1984. He was a starter on offense, defense and special teams for the Tigers, earning all-conference honorable mention honors.
He went on to play football at Foothill Junior College and was the team's offensive lineman of the year in 1988. Hart went on to earn a full-ride scholarship to Nevada, where he graduated in 1991.
Upon graduation, he opened his own business, Big Daddy's Bike, Ski & Board, which he has operated in Gardnerville for the past 17 years.
In 1999, he won a National Mountain Bike Cross Country Championship and has raced in numerous other cycling events.
He is married to Monica, his wife of 17 years, and they have two children, Jace, 10, and Cody, 6.
