About four-dozen friends and county employees were in attendence as Barbara Griffin, the only clerk-treasurer half the county's present population has ever known, swore in her successor.
Ted Thran officially became the county's new clerk-treasurer 3:10 p.m. this afternoon.
Griffin has served as the county's chief election offical, among her many other jobs, since 1987.
One of the county's most popular elected officials, she is affected by Senate Bill 544, which removed non-state government employees from the state health insurance plan effective Sept. 1.
Thran, a third-generation Carson Valley native, will run for election in 2010.
