Carson Valley Little League members are selling wristbands to benefit Joey Jacobsen, 10, critically injured two weeks ago in a woodcutting accident.

The yellow-and-black wristbands read, "We believe Pirates #24," in honor of Joey's Little League team and jersey number.

The wristbands are selling for $5 each with proceeds going to the family for nonmedical expenses.

Joey has been hospitalized at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno since the Nov. 22 accident in Markleeville. He has been in an induced coma since he was struck by a falling tree.

He is the son of Robbi and Tim Jacobsen of Minden and a fifth-grader at Minden Elementary School.

Mike Davies, a Little League coach and lifetime friend of the Jacobsen family, said the wristbands also were sold at Saturday's Parade of Lights and the Joey Jacobsen Poker Run.

On Monday, the wristbands will be available at The Record-Courier, 1503 Highway 395, Suite G, Gardnerville; United Rentals, near Meadowdale Shopping Center, Gardnerville; Studio Vogue, 1495 Highway 395, Gardnerville; Country Insurance & Financial Services, 1644 Highway 395, Minden, and Joey Jacobsen's Tree Lot, Stratton Center, Gardnerville.

Information, Mike Davies, 230-5646 or Lisa Aiazzi, 781-0928.
