A memorial service is 2 p.m. today at Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden for Gardnerville resident Mitchell L. Zimmerman, 29, who died at his home Dec. 7, 2008.
Born April 5, 1979, in San Jose, Calif., to Ivan and Nancy Zimmerman, he grew up there, graduating from Leigh High School. He moved to Burbank, Calif., before arriving in Gardnerville.
He worked as a forklift operator for a paint manufacturer. He enjoyed Ham Radio and playing video games.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
He is survived by his parents of Minden; girlfriend Kendra Halbert; sisters Kimberly Ann Zimmerman of Discovery Bay, Calif., and Adrian (Scott) McManus of Elk Grove, Calif., 4-year-old nephew Matthew McManus and 10-year-old niece Samantha McManus.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is located at 1478 Fourth St. in Minden.
