Up to a quarter inch of snow fell in the west Valley. Thanks to a storm that hit Carson Valley late last night.

Road controls are in effect on Highway 50 and Kingsbury Grade this morning after a storm brought a dusting of snow to Western Nevada. Chains or snow tires are being required on highways 88 and 50 and Interstate 80 over the passes. Chains or snow tires are also required on Highway 395 north of Washoe hill. There's also a wind advisory still up for Washoe Valley.

The high wind speed from this morning hit 50 mph in the Gardnerville Ranchos. The wind is blowing east at about 11 mph, the temperature is 31 degrees, but the wind chill makes it feel like it's 15 degrees out.

The chance of scattered snow showers will continue through today, decreasing this afternoon. By Sunday afternoon, the chance of snow will increase again with possible accumulations of up to 2 inches in the Valley over Sunday night. High temperatures will stay in the 30s through next week as the chance of snow tapers off by next weekend.
