The northbound lane of Highway 395 in front of 7-Eleven in south Gardnerville was closed around 2 p.m. after a "side-impact" accident involving a Subaru and Chevy Suburban.
A 16-year-old female driver of one car was reported to have sustained head injuries and multiple lacerations in the accident.
She was transported to Carson Valley Medical Center to await CareFlight helicopter.
A witness who was behind the Suburban said the Subaru pulled out onto 395 from the parking lot of the 7-Eleven.
The accident reduced the highway down to one lane for about 45 minutes.
An occupant of the Suburban was also taken for treatment.
