Marshall McKown, 4-H member

Special to The R-C

Hi, my name is Marshall. I am 12 years old. I am a member of the Douglas County Wicked Chickens 4-H Project, along with my 7-year-old sister Meleeah.

We both belong to the Wicked Chickens 4-H group and have been members for about three years. We both participated in the Northern Nevada 4-H Youth and Open Poultry Show in Reno.

I won a second-place rosette for showmanship in the Junior Class. Meleeah also won a second-place rosette for showmanship in the Cloverbud Class. We won eight 4-H first-place ribbons, 10 first-place Open Poultry ribbons, four Open Bantam second-place ribbons, three Best Opposite of Variety ribbons, one Open Poultry ribbon, three Reserve Best of Breed rosettes, one Best of Breed Variety 4-H, one Best of Breed Variety Open Reserve Best Open, three Reserve Best Junior 4-H and three Reserve Best Open.

We practiced with our birds for showmanship. We placed second for our showmanship. Our birds won a lot of ribbons also! We enjoy our 4-H project. Birds make great pets and we love selling our eggs and giving some away and want to thank everyone for supporting and helping us pay for their feed by purchasing our eggs! 4-H is a youth development program of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
