The R-C Morning Report

With cold temperatures and precipitation comes very slick roads. Be careful out there this morning. Chains or snow tires are required on Highwway 395 through the Pine Nuts, on Kingsbury to Tahoe and on Highway 88 south to the state line and then chains are mandatory over Carson Pass. Same for Highway 50 and Interstate 80.

Expect temperatures to be colder as the chance of snow diminishes today and tonight. Tonight's low temperature is expected to hit 3 degrees. The low Wednesday night is expected to warm up to 9 degrees. We won't see the high temperatures climb up above freezing until Thursday, when the chance of snow increases again.

I measured 3.5 inches of snow accumulated on my deck in Genoa last night. That jibes with weather watcher George Uebele's report of 4 inches of snow in Sheridan Acres. However, that boiled down to just over a quarter inch of water. We're going to have to get a whole lot more than that to hit our average for December.
