The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department is offering a Christmas tree recycling program, starting Jan. 5.
Douglas County is teaming up with Douglas Disposal and South Tahoe Refuse to provide curbside pickup of trees.
Trees should be placed next to trash cans on normal pickup days Jan. 5-9.
Residents who do not have trash pickup may put their trees out with neighbors who do.
Trees can also be dropped off at the following collection sites: Lampe Park in Gardnerville, Johnson Lane Park on Stephanie Way, Topaz Ranch Estates Park on Carter Way, Aspen Park on Muir Drive in the Gardnerville Ranchos, the Douglas County Fairgrounds off Pinenut Road, Zephyr Cove Park on Warrior Way and Kahle Park off Kingsbury Grade.
To protect workers and equipment, tinsel, lights, nails and tree stands must be removed from trees.
Flocked trees cannot be accepted.
