The R-C Morning Report

There's about an inch of new snow on the ground outside in Genoa, but the odds of us having a white Christmas are still about 50-50. It may snow a little bit tonight, but the any precipitation after 10 a.m. on Christmas Eve is going to be rain. The rain will continue into the night turning to snow showers on Christmas morning.

Expect slick roads pretty much anywhere you go in your commute this morning. Highway 395 through the Valley is calling for chains or snow tires from the Carson line south. Both Kingsbury Grade and Highway 50 through Douglas County are also requiring chains or snow tires. If you're going over the passes, expect to chain up if you're not in a four-wheel drive vehicle.

We usually put the Friday paper to bed on Thursday, but since it's Christmas and all, we'll be working right along side Santa's elves on Christmas Eve, so we can take the holiday off. The Record-Courier and most everything else will be closed on Thursday. We'll be back on Friday. County offices will be open Friday, as well.
