Obituary: Irene T. Barr

A funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City for 46-year Gardnerville resident Irene T. Barr, 93, who died Dec. 21, 2008.

Mrs. Barr was born Jan. 2, 1915, in Elma, Wash., to Joseph and Ida Tourangeau. She worked for Contel, currently Verizon, as a telephone operator for 19 years, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She moved here from Washington state.

Mrs. Barr is survived by two daughters, Lois Barr of Carson City and Dorothea McIntosh of Olympia; four grandchildren, Linda, Julie, Heidi and Hyrum; six great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley has been entrusted with her final arrangements.
