Minden resident Randy Brown's Malamute husky, Anaga has been returned to him.
Anaga disappeared from Brown's truck while he was working Jan. 22 at Carson Valley Medical Center.
The dog was found Wednesday in a field behind the medical center with an injury to one leg, but was otherwise safe.
Brown said the man who found Anaga spotted the photo and story in the Jan. 30 edition of The Record-Courier.
"I'm just so thankful," an elated Brown said Friday. "I am absolutely thrilled to death. She's not going to be out of my sight."
Brown, 28, thinks whoever broke into his truck might have been surprised by the dog, or took Anaga and abandoned her in the field.
She was missing for about eight days.
"She was pretty torn up with cuts on her eyes and a really big gash on her leg. She was in shock for a couple of days, but she's been improving every day," he said.
Brown said the man who found Anaga declined a $300 reward friends had collected. He asked, instead, that the money be donated to an animal rescue group.
Brown said he was going to fortify the latches on the truck and put bars on the camper shell windows to protect Anaga.
"As soon as she's recovered, we'll go back to our routine," he said.
