One last big snow blast is due to hit Carson Valley this evening, bringing with it blowing snow, according to the National Weather Service. A snow and blowing snow advisory goes into effect at 6 p.m. and is expected to last until 10 a.m. Sunday morning.
Winds will increase to 15-30 mph late this afternoon and gusts of up to 50 mph will hit after 6 p.m. Snow is forecast to start falling west of Highway 395 in the late afternoon and will become more widespread tonight. Forecasters expect 2-4 inches of snow on the Valley floor with 4-6 inches above 5,000 feet. Visibility could be less than a quarter-mile at times, especially in the Foothills, Washoe Valley and the North Valleys
