Danielle Fletcher, an eighth grader at Carson Valley Middle School, recently participated in the Nevada Museum of Art's Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for 2008 and won a Silver Key Award for her color-pencil drawing, "Horse in Meadow."

The award program is administered by the Alliance of Young Artists and Writers.

Students from 13 counties in Nevada were invited to submit their best art work. Submissions were reviewed by a panel of artists, educators and gallery and museum professionals.

Danielle was sponsored by middle school art teacher, Caro Medeghini.

"Horse in Meadow," along with other award-winning art, will be displayed starting Saturday through March 16 in the Nevada Museum of Art, 160 W. Liberty Street in Reno. A regional celebration and ceremony will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
