An unidentified parachutist suffered a possible broken leg and numerous facial cuts when he crashed into a barbed wire fence west of the runway at Minden-Tahoe Airport shortly before 11 a.m. today

Douglas sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jim Halsey said the victim was skydiving and missed his target.

"We're not sure if he was blown past, but he was doing regular skydiving and missed his drop zone," Halsey said.

The man was to be taken to Reno by helicopter, Halsey said.

Emergency responders were called by someone on the ground who witnessed the accident.

The incident occurred at Bliss Road and Firebrand, Halsey said.

Responders included sheriff's deputies and East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts personnel.
