An ordinance that would allow events coordinators to apply for an exclusive county permit was shot down by county commissioners on Thursday. New Commission Chairman Kelly Kite joined commissioners Dave Brady and Doug Johnson in shooting down the ordinance, which was sought by the Town of Genoa to control the number of festivals in town. Commissioners then approved the Candy Dance permit and denied three competing permits because they were incomplete. Those applicants were told they could resubmit their permits.
Did I mention that Kelly Kite is the new county commission chairman. He took over for Doug Johnson, who resigned last month.
Looks like another nice day today with highs in the 50s and lows in the 20s. The National Weather Service reports a slight chance of showers on Tuesday, but those have tended to dissipate as we've drawn closer.
