Soroptimist International of Carson Valley held a luncheon to honor this year's recipients of the Women's Opportunity Award, The Landis Foundation Award, and the Violet Richardson Award.
Prior to her death, a lifetime member of Soroptimist of Carson City requested that the club assist where needed in providing scholarship assistance to mothers returning to school or college to better themselves and improve their personal circumstances through education.
Landis funded the scholarships for future generations of women in Carson Valley.
Wendy Adkisson was awarded $6,000 from the Landis Foundation and the WOA award along with a framed certificate. Adkisson is the foundation of her family and may use the cash award to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education.
