Genoa is seeking artisans and crafters with handmade arts and crafts for the 88th annual Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Faire on Sept. 27 and 28.

"Our emphasis this year is on getting back to quality," said Fair Chairwoman Sheryl Gonzales. "There are many arts and crafts fairs Ð we want the Candy Dance to stand out from all the rest."

Applications are available from the Genoa Town Office, 782-8696, or from the Candy Dance Web site at www.candydanceartsandcraftsfaire.org.

The application deadline is March 15.

The fair features more than 325 crafters and vendors, plus 4,000 pounds of Genoa's homemade candy. The town's hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Admission is free and parking in designated lots is available for a fee. The annual Candy Dance dinner and dance will be held Sept. 27.

The first Candy Dance was organized in 1919 by Genoa resident Lillian Virgin Finnegan to raise money to purchase street lights for Genoa.

The arts and crafts fair was added in the 1970s.

Funds raised during the Candy Dance weekend provide a substantial portion of Genoa's annual budget.
