Immigration lawyer James J. Kelly will discus immigration law and Nevada criminal practice at Thursday's Douglas Bar Association luncheon at noon in the downstairs meeting room at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Lunch, tax, tip, and one hour of approved CLE credit is $17.

Kelly is a frequent presenter on immigration law. He has concentrated his practice on all facets of immigration law for more than 35 years. The subject of his one hour program is how immigration law affects Nevada criminal practice. He will review the definition of an alien and provide an overview of how to analyze criminal matters for immigration purposes. He will also explore the kinds of crimes that can result in removal; what constitutes a conviction for immigration purposes; and how it is proven; the prospects of relief from removal; detention and the bond authority of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
