Eighteen-year-old Delaney Battista of Gardnerville was one of 138 students at the University of Nevada, Reno's College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural Resources named to the Dean's List for the 2007 fall semester, with a grade point average of 3.75 or higher.
Battista is a dietetics major and the son of Doug and Sally Battista of Gardnerville. She is a 2007 graduate of Douglas High School and was the recipient of the millennium scholarship and the Wolf Pack award of $1,000 for 2007.
Battista also won a writing contest on campus this fall. The winning essay was about her grandmother.
Battista has been accepted into the International Student Volunteer Program and will be going to Costa Rica this summer to work on conservation issues. Battista said when she gets out of school, she would like to work in a clinical setting, writing diet programs for patients.
