New meeting place for art association

Get a rundown on the Carson Valley Art Association's schedule and see a demonstration by artist Mark Tompkins at the CVAA meeting, 1:30 p.m. Jan. 25 in room 107 at Western Nevada College, Douglas campus, 1680 Bently Way, Minden. The new meeting room has an overhead mirror to view demonstrations in monthly meetings and the Douglas campus is the site of several CVAA exhibits. Drinks and snacks will be available.

Tompkins studied life drawing and illustration at Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He worked as a graphic artist for a number of years, moved to Northern Nevada and started teaching painting classes in Carson City. Tompkins teaches various mediums, but his favorites are watercolors and acrylics. He teaches classes at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City and painting and drawing at Western Nevada College in Minden.
