At least 7 inches of snow fell in Genoa early this morning. While the sun is out for now, a winter storm watch kicks in at 4 p.m. today. The snowfall this morning was from a band that passed through the Valley. Forecasters are expecting another blast of snow late tonight and early Monday morning with accumulations of up to 6 inches in the foothills and up to 3 inches in the Valley floor. Strong winds are expected to accompany the front this evening. Be prepared for gusts of 50-60 mph and for poor visibility and drifting where light snow has fallen. Also be prepared for possible power outages accompanying the high winds.
Chains or snow tires are being required on most area roads. But it appears from the NHP Web site that most people in Western Nevada are staying home or being careful.
