The Douglas County Senior Center hosts the ninth annual Senior Health Fair, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the Shannon Ballroom at the Carson Valley Inn, 1627 Highway 395 in Minden. The free event is open for all ages.
The health fair is designed to provide seniors and the community an expanded awareness of healthcare providers and services in our community and an opportunity to address individual concerns with healthcare professionals.
Health care providers and organizations will be present to discuss services including medical, insurance, residential care, finance and investments, nutrition, Medicaid, community services, hearing and vision.
The senior fashion show featuring spring and evening wear collection from area stores begins 1 p.m.
There will be a raffle of prizes throughout the day, with prizes provided by Senior Health Fair participants. All proceeds from the raffle ticket sales benefit senior programs.
The Douglas County Health Nurse provides blood pressure checks from 9 a.m. to noon. Transportation to the health fair provided by Douglas Area Rural Transit, at no cost by calling 783-6456.
