Chapter of philanthropic educational sisterhood organized in Carson Valley

The PEO Sisterhood celebrated the formation of a new chapter in Carson Valley with a ceremony at Carson Valley United Methodist Church on June 21.

During the event, 20 women from Carson Valley and Carson City were admitted as charter members of Chapter AN, the 37th active chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization in Nevada.

The Carson Valley PEO Chapter will be involved with community fundraising projects for an educational loan fund, the PEO Peace Scholarship Fund, a program for continuing education and scholarship awards.

The charter members are Catherine Amundson, Arlene Becker, Susan Carnegie, Marti Cheney, Elaine Curnow, Nancy Edmundson, Deana Ercanbrack, Jan Franklin, Joanne Hall, Jody Hix, Jeanne Hendrix, Maxane Hylton, Joyce Koropchak, Nancy Mattinson, Kristin MacKey, Janet Perry, Christy Smith, Debra Wager, Barbara Walton and Juli Wilson.

PEO is an international women's organization that provides educational opportunities for women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College in Nevada, Mo. The organization's international headquarters is in Des Moines.
