The Carson Valley Little League 11-12-year-old All-Stars will open up the Nevada District I tournament Saturday at the South Valleys Regional Sports Complex in Reno.
Carson Valley will take on Sparks Centennial at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Washoe at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
The team will wrap up pool play with games against Reno American West at 5:30 p.m. on Monday and Reno National at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Carson Valley's roster is made up of Matthew Elliott, Cody Schmidlin, Taylen Lopez-Simms, Wesley Hundley, Seth Trivitt, Dalton Grisell, Cole Peck, Cody Carter, Kyle Johnson, Austin Evans, Parker Hoshizaki, Sullivan Cauley and Edward Mason IV.
The teamed is coached by Ron Cauley, Jon Grisell and Ed Mason.
The winner of the District I tournament will advance to the Nevada state championship. The winner there goes on to regionals and the winner at regionals advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
Carson Valley took a 6-3 win over Carson American Tuesday night to emerge from pool play unbeaten at 4-0.
As the No. 1 seed in the pool, Carson Valley will play its first playoff game Thursday night at 8 p.m. at the South Valleys Regional Sports Complex in Reno.
Dillon Lopez, Casey Johnson and Kaleb Foster each took a turn on the mound in the game.
"It was a close game and the kids worked hard and worked together to get it done," Carson Valley coach Mike Davies said. "Every kid on our roster is contributing.
"We're moving kids around at different positions and every one of them is doing their job where we put them. I couldn't ask for a better group of kids right now."
Carson Valley suffered its first defeat of the tournament at the hands of the perenially-powerful Washoe All-Stars Tuesday night.
They will still enter the elimination bracket as the No. 2 seed out of their pool with a 3-1 record, but they'll do so without two key players, Ben Nolting and Connor McKinnon.
Both players suffered eye injuries on Tuesday, Nolting while getting hit in the face with a line drive at second base and McKinnon earlier in the day at home.
"It was just a bad day from the get-go," Carson Valley coach Tim Jacobsen said.
Carson Valley will play against Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. at the South Valleys Regional Sports Complex.
