A pair of Douglas High softball standouts helped their tournament team, the California Grapettes, qualify for the ASA Softball Fastpitch U18 Nationals over the weekend.
Pitcher Stephanie Harper and catcher Katrina Morgan have been playing for the Stockton, Calif.-based team since 2007.
The Grapettes won the Hayward, Calif., National Qualifier by beating the North Valley Rapids 8-0 in the title game.
Harper is entering her senior year at Douglas. She is currently holding down an ERA of 0.63 with the Grapettes and has a batting average of .382.
Morgan will be a junior and is batting .298 for the Grapettes.
The nationals will be in Moline, Ill., July 27 though Aug. 4. For ASA softball is it the highest tournament a team can play in. Many college scouts flock to the tournament every year.
Anyone interested in sponsoring Harper, Morgan or the team can contact Christina Harper at 267-3974.
