Sheriff seeks volunteers

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is seeking citizen volunteers to assist at the main and sub-stations.

Our volunteer staff allows us to provide services to the community that might otherwise be curtailed.

Volunteer members perform a wide range of functions. The Sheriff's Office operates three sub-stations throughout the county; in the Topaz Ranch Estates, Gardnerville Ranchos and Indian Hills residential areas.

Volunteers working in our substations normally work a four-hour shift once a week on a day of their choosing.

Some of the duties they perform are answering questions of the public via telephone; issuing dog licenses, bicycle registrations, tree cutting and special use permits; and assisting individuals in need of services provided by the Sheriff's Office.

Persons interested in the Douglas County Sheriff's Office volunteer program should call 782-9931.
