A service is in New Mexico for former Carson Valley resident Dennis "Uncle Dirk" Dirksen died July 8, 2008. He was 56 years old.
Mr. Dirksen was born April 25, 1952, and spent most of his life in the construction industry. Recently he switched to selling hay for J&J Hay Sales in New Mexico.
"He will be remembered always for his integrity, his open heard and his love of life and family," a friend said.
Mr. Dirksen was preceded in death by his nephew, Jason Dirksen, and his father, Jake Dirksen.
He is survived by his mother, Tilly; siblings Rick (Theo), Betty (Ron), Jay (Barb); children Joshua, Alison, Courtney; nephews and numerous "adopted" nephews and nieces.
A memorial service is 11 a.m. Tuesday in Winnemucca for Carson Valley native Henry H. "Hank" Hansen, 90, who died at Humboldt General Hospital on July 8, 2008.
Born in 1918 to Mathias and Edith Christensen Hansen at the family ranch in Centerville, he graduated from Douglas County High School in Gardnerville.
Mr. Hansen ranched in Gardnerville, Reno, Denio and other places in Nevada before he settled in Winnemucca.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Inger Hansen, Ott Hansen, Ann Rundberg, Edith Munson, Earl Hansen, son Mathias Thomas and granddaughter Lory Blair.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Winnemucca; sister Rubel David of Oakland; son Ott (Kim) Hansen of Reno; three daughters, Inger Casey of Winnemucca, Barbara (Roy) Enochson of Yerington, Mary Ann (Ray) Blair of Rupert, Idaho; grandchildren Inger Aiono of Carson City, Toby Enochson of Yerington, Clay Blair of Rupert, Idaho, Holly Hochist of Patomic, Md., Stepanie Halstead of Austin, Texas, Shawn Halstead of Tuscon, Ariz., Jack Hansen of Pleasant Valley; and several great grandchildren.
The memorial service is 11 a.m. at Highland Park on Water Canyon Road in Winnemucca.

A celebration of life is 2 p.m. Sunday at Carson City Harley-Davidson, 2900 Research Way, for Kathleen Rae Taylor, 53, a 10-year resident of Gardnerville.
Born July 20,1954, in Miami to Robert E. and Barbara J. Frahm Scott, she graduated from Cleveland High School in Woodland Hills, Calif., in 1972.
She married Kent Taylor in May 19, 2001, in Genoa.
A patient account representative at Carson Valley Medical Center, she was an officer in the Harley owners group and Motorcycle Safety Foundation instruction. She enjoyed quilting and motorcycling.
She is preceded in death by her father in 1989; her mother in 1995, and her brother Richard Scott in 1995.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Daniel Martin; a daughter, Jennifer Martin-Smith; sisters Suzanne Scott, Nancy Schafer and Patricia Makay.
Cremation is through FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Mrs. Taylor's name.
