Park Cattle's application for a master plan amendment was deemed complete by the Community Development Department this week and will go forward through the master plan cycle. The first public meetings on the project should be at the Gardnerville and Minden town boards in the first week in August.

It's going to be smoky and hot today as the National Weather Service issued an air stagnation advisory through noon Friday. Increased smoke output from fires in California will result in lowered visibility and falling ash in the afternoon and evening. Expect visibility to drop to below a mile in the mountains and below three miles in the Valley.

Douglas County commissioners voted 3-2 on Wednesday to forward the airport master and layout plans to the Federal Aviation Administration for review. The feds have to approve the layout plan. Among objections to the plan were not including Pinon Aero, listing a P3 Orion as a critical aircraft and not doing an environmental assessment for the entire plan.
