'E.T.' free movie in the park tonight

The Town of Gardnerville's Movies in the Park continues with "E.T." at dusk in Heritage Park, one block east of Highway 395 off Gilman Avenue.

Bring a blanket and sand chairs, pack a picnic or enjoy treats offered by Carson Valley Lions Club and Boy Scout Troop 411, Coldstone Creamery, Papa Murphy's Take 'N Bake Pizza and Subway.

Movies in the Park are sponsored by Bad Bonz Motorsports, Bodywise Physical Therapy, Burger King, Carson Valley Accounting, Carson Valley Medical Center, Colonial Bank, Mark Smith Tire Center, Inc. Re/Max Realty Affiliates, Sharkeys Casino and Studio Vogue Salon.


Museum festival Saturday

Wine tasting, music and food booths will be featured at the Douglas County Historical Society's Art and Wine Festival, 4-8 p.m. Saturday on the lawn of the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville.

Area artists display and sell their work, wine from Lira's Market will be poured for tasting and food will be provided by Carson Valley Lions Club and Western Nevada Cattlewomen. Garian Music will play Celtic music.

Cost is $10 per person which buys a wine glass for tasting and access to food, music and art. Raffle tickets for a 30-bottle wine collection are for sale in the Main Street Bookstore or at the event.

Antique Show & Sale this weekend

Artwork, furniture, collectibles, and an appraisal clinic can be found at the Genoa Antiques Show & Sale, Saturday and Sunday, at the Genoa Town Hall.

Appraisals are $5 per item, with no limit to the number of items. Good photos of large items may also be used for appraisals.

The Borges Family offers carriage rides, Buzz & Doug play country-western and blues music, members of the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra will play violins and Georgette Twain will play banjo.

The Genoa Antique Show & Sale is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $1.50. Proceeds from the show benefits, in part, the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra.

Carson Valley Jamboree Sunday

David John & the Comstock Cowboys, the Saddle Tramps, Macho Jonny and Roaddaddy are the bands performing at the Carson Valley Jamboree presented by the Austin Kirby Foundation, noon to 8 p.m. Sunday on the Park Cattle property at Highway 395 and Muller Lane.

Event includes tri-tip sandwiches, hot dogs, Indian tacos, crafts, car show and raffles. Tickets for the Austin House fundraiser are $20 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and are available at www.cvjamboree.org.
