Two women were shot to death Thursday and another woman has been arrested in connection with the murders, El Dorado County authorities on the West Slope reported this morning.
Sheriff's deputies responded at about 5 p.m. to 3960 Leisure Lane in the Pleasant Valley area of the county, which is located west of Lake Tahoe, and east of Placerville between the towns of Camino and Somerset.
Deputies gained entry into the home after a woman called California Highway Patrol dispatch advising that she had been shot, said Sgt. Phil Covanec.
The two women were found shot inside the home. One was dead at the scene and the second woman died enroute to the hospital, Covanec said.
Both women were shot with an unknown weapon, he said.
Dana Leigh Dodd, 48, has been booked on charges of first degree murder and is at the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville. No bail amount has been set, according to the sheriff's office booking Web site.
A motive for the shooting is unknown at this time, Covanec said. The victims names are being witheld pending notification of family.
