Special to The R-C

Douglas County 4-H Livestock Clubs and FFA members attended the Nevada Junior Livestock Show to show and sell their beef, sheep and swine at the Reno Livestock Events Center on May 1-4.

Saturday night some of the seniors left to go to prom and had to be back early the next morning to show again. We attended the unity dinner and award ceremony.

Our families take time off of school and work to stay for the four days in Reno. There were 4-H and FFA families from all over Nevada and California participating. Everyone stays in hotels or camps in RVs in the parking lot because we have to tend to our animals several times a day to get them cleaned up and groomed, and to feed and water them and keep their pens clean. It was a lot of hard work but everyone helps each other and we had fun. On Sunday, there was the livestock auction and scholarship award winners.

We'd like to especially thank our 4-H livestock leaders: Nita Vick, Carson Valley Shepherds; Todd Gansberg, Carson Valley Beef; Skyler Zulian, Carson Valley Divine Swine and Tami Seddon, Carson Valley Livestock Judging.
