The Gardnerville women's club called the Town and Country Homemakers have been a viable group for more than 50 years. They now find, with their dwindling membership and the challenge of fundraisers with such a small group, it is impractical to continue, so have decided to disband.

An annual function has been a spring luncheon with the Topaz Sage Hens Homemakers. In years gone by the Genoa Homemakers, who disbanded several years ago, was also a part of this annual gathering. The clubs took turns as hostess.

The Town and Country's last official function was this year's spring luncheon hosted by the Topaz Sage Hens on May 14 at the Carson Valley Country Club. The Sage Hens, hearing in advance the club was disbanding, were so kind to present each member of the Town and Country club with a corsage when arriving.

The spring luncheon is when both clubs present scholarships to chosen Douglas High School seniors. Carolyn LeGrand of the Town and Country Club presented their scholarship to Amanda McComb.

The outgoing officers are Sandy Garren, president; Fern Rollings, vice president; Diane Patton, secretary and Terry Snell, treasurer.

The club wants to thank all those who helped with the their fundraisers in the past. Hope to see many of you in the future. We will miss our sisterhood.
