The center houses primary care and infusion center for chemotherapy, and a diabetes center. specialty physicians, and an emergency department. Outpatient services include medical imaging with CT and MRI services, laboratory, physical therapy, occupational medicine, respiratory therapy, nuclear medicine and surgery center. The emergency department is open 24 hours and physicians are all board-certified in emergency medicine. CareFlight is stationed here 24 hours a day. This is a hospital with 23 beds and an intensive care unit.

Community health nurses in Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe.
The nurses provide well-baby clinics, immunization for infants, school children and adults against preventable communicable diseases, health counseling and family planning, HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, education and counseling for the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. The office also provides cervical cancer screening which includes pap smear, pelvic examination and breast examination.

DCSSAR is a nonprofit volunteer organization responsible for locating and rescuing people lost, stranded or injured in the county's back country. The group operates under the auspices of the sheriff's office. Members, who are graduates of the DCSAR Academy, train monthly in areas such as mountaineering, tracking, swiftwater, technical ropes, search operations and emergency ropes, search operations and emergency medical treatment. The team is always looking for new members who have a desire to help the community and who enjoy learning new skills. General meetings are held the fourth Thursday. No previous experience is necessary. Call for information and meeting times. Donations to help defray expenses of equipment welcome.

The sheriff's mounted posse was formed early in 1998 by volunteers who enjoy riding horses and who serve the community in horse-related activities. The posse trains twice per month, usually on a weekend. Posse activities include emergency livestock evacuation, parade riding, security at special events, support of community service entities in Douglas County and support of the sheriff's department with mounted personnel whenever needed.

Mental health services are provided for children, adolescents and their families. Also served are persons with severe emotional problems who need psychotherapy, case management or psychiatric consultation. Counseling is also available for adults and couples. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fees are based on the Nevada sliding scale ranging from $4 to $103 per hour depending on income and number of persons in the family. The facility, a service of Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, is located in the Minden Medical Center. The hours of the urgent care center are 8 a.m.- 8 p.m., seven days a week. The center provides walk-in emergency/
urgent care services as well as physicals " including sports, general health, pre-employment and occupational. Other services include occupational medicine, out-patient radiology, laboratory, EKGs, pre-op testing, mammography, ultrasound, MRI, CTs and free blood pressure checks. Physician services in cardiology, urology, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery and gastrointestinal are also provided.
