Carson Valley Middle School's music department took two first-place wins during the Music in the Parks festival in Disneyland on May 24.

"I'm extremely proud of my students," said CVMS music teacher Travis Walls. "All their hard work paid off."

The school's eighth- and ninth-grade band won first place in both the junior high school concert band competition in the 1AA division and the junior high school mix choir competition in the same division.

The seventh-grade band won second place in the middle school concert band competition in the 1AA division.

Ninth-grader Johnny Lawrence was named outstanding accompanist for his piano playing.

The school also garnered the Esprit De Corps award for most spirited performance.

Douglas High School's band fared well, winning third place in the high school concert band competition and second place in the jazz band competition.
