A Gardnerville man indicted by the Douglas County Grand Jury on two counts of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 16 is scheduled to appear in district court this morning for a plea change. Valter Verbanac, 55, is accused the victim between 2001 and 2005 and has been held in Douglas County Jain in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The Douglas County Public Library's annual fund-raiser wraps up with an ice-cream social on 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the CVIC Hall, where they'll have a book signing and a raffle.

Not much to say about the weather today. It will be sunny and warm with a high near 90. The Washoe Zephyr will pick up at about 2 p.m. and start gusting to 25 mph for a couple of hours, according to the National Weather Service graph. It looks like it should be a little less hazy today, but that could change.
