A 57-year-old Carson City man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a pickup on Highway 28 about five miles north of the intersection with Highway 50.

The victim's name is not being released pending notification of his next of kin.

The accident occurred at 9:20 a.m. according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Trooper Chuck Allen said the man was northbound toward Incline Village when he entered the opposing travel lane where he sideswiped an oncoming 2007 Ford F-150 towing a utility trailer. The pickup was driven by David Shattuck of Gardnerville, who was uninjured in the accident.

"The accident, which happened in a no passing zone and on a blind curve in the roadway, caused authorities to turn both north and southbound traffic around," Allen said. "This portion of the highway, that is also a two-lane highway separating opposing traffic with double-yellow lines, was closed for just over three hours while investigators diagrammed the scene, interviewed witnesses and marked and located physical evidence."

Witnesses to the accident are encouraged to call Trooper Eric Gallagher at (775) 689-4661 regarding case No. 0806180586.
