Douglas County commissioners approved the first reading of an ordinance that would require the annual renewal of home occupation permits. At present the permit is valid for operation of a business inside a home for as long as the business is operating.
The Carson Valley House of Praise is hosting a Christian concert in Minden Park today and Saturday. There are concerts as part of Magiko at Heritage Park tonight and in Genoa on Sunday. The Magiko Summercross motorcycle race is at the Fairgrounds on Saturday. And for those of more artistic bent, there's an arts show and reception at the CVIC Hall today.
There's a slight chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, which means there's a slight chance of wildfires, too. Today the weather will be sunny with a high near 90 degrees and not much of a breeze. That will come on Saturday, with winds between 15 and 20 mph and the thunderstorms coming up between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. According to the fire weather report the chance of ignition is 100 percent out in the world, so watch for lightning strikes and watch those potential ignition sources.
