When Nothern Nevada's top juniors take the field Saturday to take on the best Southern Nevada has to offer in the annual Kelley Baseball Showcase, Douglas High will certainly be well-represented.
Douglas is sending four seniors-to-be to the game with pitchers Tyler May and Tyler Hoelzen, shortstop Tim Rudnick and outfielder Tanner Thomas all set to play.
"They've had it in the past where they'll invite some underclassmen to the game too," Douglas coach John Glover said. "But this year's junior class in the north was so strong they decided to go with all juniors.
"It's a fun game every year."
The game is 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Western Nevada College in Carson City. It annually draws college and pro scouts from throughout the West Coast.
Generally, each pitcher selected to the game gets about an inning to show their stuff.
Position players will get more of a chance to settle in and everyone gets to take batting practice for the scouts in attendance.
Coaches from Reno and Manogue, the respective league champions this past season, will be coaching the Northern Nevada squad.
