The Douglas County Sheriff's Protective Association is hosting candidates' forums July 8-9 for county commission candidates in the August primary.

Association member Deputy Kevin Schaller said a questionnaire would be provided to candidates in advance that will address concerns of the deputies, investigators and sergeants of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

The questionnaire will be provided to the candidates by Wednesday.

Candidates are invited to discuss their responses and field additional questions from the association at the forums from 6-8 p.m. both nights at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Road, Gardnerville.

"This forum will not be a debate, rather the candidates will be interviewed separately," Schaller said. "Candidates' responses will be available at the conclusion of the meetings."

The forums are open to the public.

"The association will evaluate the responses of the candidates and determine endorsements, if any," Schaller said.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Protective Association represents 98 percent of the deputies, investigators and sergeants of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
