School's out at Douglas High School this morning due to a broken water line. School officials expect the school to reopen Tuesday. According to the high school's Web site a water heater line break above the bathrooms in the commons resulted in a flood that affected the main office, the counseling off ice and the 200 hall.
A regular B day schedule will resume on Tuesday.
A Gardnerville Ranchos man faces up to 15 years in Nevada State Prison and a $5,000 fine for felony driving under the influence with one prior. Phillip Gamez, 37, admitted that his blood alcohol content was above the legal limit when he was arrested on Jan. 23 on Langley Drive. In exchange for his Feb. 4 guilty plea, a domestic battery charge was dropped. Gamez has had three prior convictions for felony DUI.
The chance of precipitation these past two weeks has been like a mountain in the desert. Every time you think you've gotten close, it's that much further away. In this case, the chance of rain that was supposed to be Monday may come in on Thursday. In the meantime, high temperatures this week will be in the 60s with lows around freezing.
