A 19-year-old South Lake Tahoe man, described by authorities as a known gang affiliate, has been arrested in connection with a Feb. 22 shooting in the parking garage of Harveys Resort Casino.

Eric Zamudio, also known as Chris Garcia, was booked into the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon to promote gang activity, authorities said.

Zamudio is suspected of firing a shotgun during an altercation between two groups of young males, with about four to five males in each group, on the first floor of the parking garage at about 9:30 p.m. Feb. 22, according to Douglas County sheriff's Sgt. Jim Halsey.

The victim of the shooting, identified as 18-year-old Gary Trader of South Lake Tahoe, was hit in the left cheek, left side of the neck and left shoulder by shotgun pellets, Halsey said.

Trader had little information to provide regarding the incident or suspect, but through crime-scene processing, follow-up investigation and interviews with potential witnesses and informants, sheriff's Investigator Greg Rooney identified a possible suspect.

Rooney interviewed the potential suspect and received a full confession that he committed the crime, authorities said.
