Up to a quarter of an inch of rain fell in northern Douglas County early this morning as a wet weather system rolled in over night. Snow levels started high this morning, but are expected to lower as the front passes. According to the National Weather Service, snow is supposed to drop into the Valley floors by Friday morning. If this is what 30 percent looks like, the 60 percent chance of snow on Saturday should be spectacular.
There's a wind advisory in effect for Western Nevada that started at 6 a.m. and will run through 6 p.m. Expect winds today of up to 60 mph in the foothills and 80 mph over the ridgetops. Washoe Valley is under wind controls
Even though it rained like all bejeebers this morning, the river gauges are remaining steady at about 3.46 feet. The sun took care of a lot of the thick snow in the lower elevations, so that shouldn't be much of a factor. The county's flood indicators aren't doing anything, yet. It's 52 degrees out, but it won't stay warm for long either.
