It's pretty sunny out for a day when the National Weather Service is predicting a 50 percent chance of snow. It's cold enough, though. The percentages for showers go up to 50 percent right around commute time, so be careful. The wind will be blowing all day and the high shouldn't hit 50.
The real chance for some snow in the Valley kicks in about 12 hours later at 5 a.m. and will last about 10 hours. No telling what we'll get. The forecasters are betting less than an inch.
There was an accident 7:40 a.m. this morning at Highway 50 and mile marker 13. The NHP Web site lists it as unknown injury and that there may be some delays. There are road controls on the west side of Lake Tahoe and a wind warning on Highway 395 through Washoe Valley.
