The Antelope Valley Lions Club is again holding their Easter egg hunt on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m., Walker Community Park. The kids always have fun with this event, and I'm sure this year will be the same. The grand prize is a golden egg, so bring your kids to the park for the fun.
Library friends
This local group, whose goal is to assist the area library, has recently collected more books than they can use at book sales. They have very generously arranged several donations of appropriate books to organizations that will put them to very good use. Many will go to the Spouse House at the Reno VA hospital, preschool books will go to the Marine base housing, some to the Mountain Warfare Training Center for their recreation room and more to be shipped to troops deployed overseas. That is a wonderful gift to all the recipients.
Cow Pasture Golf Tournament
If you haven't already, let the Lions Club know that you want to play in the tournament on April 5 at the Giorgi ranch on Topaz Lane. The cost is only $25 for golf and the tastiest rib lunch you'll have for a long time. If you don't have a foursome, don't worry, they will find you partners. As someone whose husband won't miss it, I can tell you that it will be a fun day. Call Dave at (530) 485-2822 or Clint at (530) 495-2935 or any other Lions Club member.
Walker Thrift Store
The store has a new and energetic manager in Priscilla Rosen. She is really streamlining and upgrading the store, so stop by and see it soon. They will also be having their $2 per bag sale from March 18 through March 28. One bag of clothes is $2 and two bags will cost a total of $3. Well worth a visit. The store's goal is to assist seniors and their activities in the Antelope Valley.
Another honor for Amara
Amara Rowley was recently named Division 1A Player of the Year for the Western region. It is another well-deserved honor for her and her basketball play this year. Congratulations, Amara.
