The National Weather Service issued a special statement warning of strong gusty winds this evening. A fast moving cold front will bring winds of up to 40 mph with gusts of up to 55 mph in the Carson Valley.
The winds are expected to diminish after midnight.
The weather service is warning motorists to look out for high winds on north-south highways and blowing dust.
