Two horses were injured when a horse trailer rolled over on Highway 395 north of Holbrook Junction early this morning.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chava Rothschild said the driver of a white pickup involved in the accident was on his way to a horse event at about 5:19 a.m. when the truck began to fishtail.
Pointing at the curved skid marks down the hill, Rothschild said the driver tried to regain control of the truck, but the horsetrailer rolled over and the camper came off.
The two horses in the trailer were injured and transported by a Douglas County brand inspector to a Gardnerville veterinarian for evaluation.
The horse trailer and pickup blocked the highway for several hours. Troopers got it opened to a single lane of traffic at about 8:15 a.m. and then reopened the highway completely at 9:15 a.m.
The identity of the pickup's driver was not released. He was not injured in the accident.
